Bogen Health Foods Inc. was founded by Lina Wen in 2006. She was born in a family that practiced traditional Chinese medicine for five generations.

In 1983, her grandfather, Xiang Zhou Wong, received honors for his outstanding practice of Chinese medicine by the Health Department of Canton China naming him the famous doctor of traditional Chinese medicine in Canton City, China.

Ms. Wen learned traditional Chinese Medicine from her grandfather and mother when she was very young. Before she came to the United States, she studied Chinese herbs in the Canton College of traditional Chinese Medicine.

After recovering from serious illness, Ms. Wen realized people needed natural products to keep healthy and live better. So she opened a health foods store in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The name Bogen originated from a word in Chinese meaning "health and prevention".
